What’s more fascinating?
The triviality of the evil or the “mise en scene” of the disturbing truth? Or both of them?
The concept behind this docu-film is simply absurd but perfectly working: “please can you reenact atrocities you have committed”?
“The Act of Killing” is a rare example of daring surrealism and grotesque humor that let the viewer shocked or simply skeptical, despite the softening the emotive impact by using poetic images don't make it less painful.
