Film written by Leiji Matsumoto and it shows!
The film of 2010 is not very different from the original storyline of the first series. We are always in 2199, from the planet Iskandar reaches a capsule with the plans for the construction of a ship powered by a wave motives able to make leaps interstellar. The capsule contains in itself the promise of cleansing the world from radiation generated by the bombs of the empire Gamilas, appeared out of nowhere five years before, to attack the Earth (you will find out later that the bombs are just a method of Gamilas-training our planet to suit their ways of life fleeing their dying planet). The Earth and now halo extreme and Iskandar is the last hope of humanity, reduced to begging for food, one of the rubble and destruction. Is built, so the spaceship Yamato, taking the name of the famous battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy sunk by the Americans in 1945, which was launched towards the planet Iskandar coordinates of the message in the capsule. On Yamato joins, among the volunteers, Sasumu Kodai, more than anything else to get the captain Okita, according to him responsible for the death of his brother during a battle against the Gamilas on Mars. The Yamato makes its way between jumps and interstellar battles with Gamilas, by gunfire wave driving up to the planet only to discover that Iskandar Iskandar and Gamilas are two sides of the same coin, two currents of thought born in a form of life highly interconnected on a dying planet. Iskandar is willing to accept your fate of death, Gamilas wants to take possession of the earth and adapt to their way of life. Iskandar will, after a fierce battle between the Earth and the Gamilas, survivors of the Yamato, the tools to save the Earth. The Yamato, so, after having sacrificed along with his captain Sasumu Kodai (who during the journey had taken the place of Okita terminally ill) in his last fight with Gamilas and Deslar at the gates of the Earth will complete its mission to destroy the aliens and return the planet to its former glory. Well watch this film has not been easy, lasts 130 minutes and is difficult for me to stay quiet for two consecutive hours. Although, therefore, the've watched "series", if you do not expect a masterpiece, the film is very enjoyable and the special effects are not too bad all things considered; the very fact of being able to see the Yamato fight in a movie made me stay all the time with a stupid grin on his face.
