Gerry - Gus Van Sant

This story has elements that call to mind a real misadventure that ended with one person murdering another under very similar conditions. The murder of David Coughlin by Raffi Kodikian in New Mexico in 1999 occurred while both were lost together in Rattlesnake Canyon.

Although the film is inspired by a real fact, Gus Van Sant didn't want to know much about the real story but arranged the plot in according to Casey Affleck and Matt Damon's suggestions and ideas.

As a result, the movie seems to be shot by a bored director and lazy actors even the remarkble photography and the hopeless attempt to imitate Bela Tarr's directing style.
