This film is a failed attempt to recover the Alien saga . The first part somehow manages to create a certain expectation but is greatly disappointed . Many scenes are totally ends in themselves and are only minimal justification in the need for pouring two hours of special effects , at least those well made .
The viewer has already seen Alien and hopes to regain at least part of the excitement offered by that masterpiece will remain heavily disappointed. None of the characters is well characterized , and even the main character is little more than sketched , so that it is hard to tell if it is really the protagonist. The minor characters are just ridiculous caricatures of those in the first Alien . Charlize Theron plays a good expression with its role as a pity that her character , like the others, is only sketched.
Evidently Prometheus is set as a sort of first episode of a series that you know how to start but we will never know how it ends (like Lost) . The hope is that the experiment ends here and are not produced other chapters , however , I would not see .
The excellent visual effects while Prometheus is not enough to engage the viewer , so that is almost more exciting than the movie trailer , whose length tends to get bored. This is yet another proof that the special effects and the 3D scam can not replace a good story and a good script
